Although commercial construction of the 41 storey (489 ft) Shaw Tower was completed in late-2004, residential construction won't be finished until later this summer.

Vancouver's latest waterfront landmark is set behind the site of the new convention centre expansion, and it's already become an iconic part of the city's skyline. Even before construction began, some observers noted that the Shaw Tower's design bears more than a passing resemblance to New York's Flatiron Building. (above right)
The mixed-use building is expected to have a somewhat odd mix of tennants, which will include the people behind the structure - the Ledcor Group, the Westbank Group, and Shaw Communications - in addition to Mr. Jimmy Pattison himself, who's Jim Pattison Group will be taking up an entire floor.
Among the building's residents will be washed-up action hero Jean Claude van Damme, who just might be seen kicking some toddler ass, if the little tykes in the building's daycare centre get out of hand. (Although it's not likely that they'll ever be hounding him for autographs).
