Named after one of the most beloved hookers to have ever walked the corner of Seymour and Helmcken (just kidding), the 18-storey (183 ft) Freesia is scheduled for completion by mid-2006.
Once it's finished, the Freesia will have 185 units, many of which will be occupied by pure and wholesome young ladies, as pictured on the developer's website. Quite clearly, this building's marketing is designed to help with the exoricism of that infamous block bordered by Richards, Helmcken, Seymour and Nelson.
Nonetheless, the website also contains a subtle nod to the neighborhood's past, as one of the Freesia's future occupants casually asks, "Free for dinner?". (Hmmm - where have we heard that line before?)
The developer is adding construction updates with photos to its site every couple of months, which can be found here. About seven floors have already gone up so far.
Actually, we're quite sure that most of the Freesia's occupants will turn out to be good, honest people. The hookers can afford better anyway - they live in more expensive buildings closer to the water.
