For the residents of International Village and the Spectrum development, greenery lies close by in the form of Andy Livingstone Park.
The park was officially opened in 1995, and is named after former park comissioner Andy Livingstone.
Not only does this urban sanctuary (pardon the cliche) provide meandering trails that will connect with the future Creekside Park and False Creek seawall, it also includes several sports facilities such as a basketball court, soccer field, and tennis court among other fine amenities. Nearby is the innovative skateboard park as well, which opened in 2004.
For more commentary on the park, plus bigger pictures, check out this link from a landscape architecture website based in Sweden. According to the website's authors, like much of the former industrial lands on the north shore of False Creek, the soil underneath Andy Livingstone park was contaminated, and therefore had to undergo remediation.
The site is therefore 'capped' by plastic liners (PVC liners), which are buried below the surface of much of the park, under an additional 1.2 metres of sand. There's an "extensive subsurface drainage system" as well.
