Of all the online Expo coverage, one of our favourites is the collection of videos from the fair that can be found at Greatervancouverparks.com. After the jump, the first video includes a rather amusing rendition of the Expo 86 theme tune (Something's Happening Here), replete with big-haired 80's singer.
Click on the big Expo logo, and you can link to a map of the Expo site, where more videos are available by clicking through on each coloured zone on the map. You can see Prince Charles noticably wince as he declares his 'pleasure' at opening the fair, while Jim Pattison tries to spin the opening-day rain by claiming that in other parts of the world it's snowing (on May 2nd!?).
There's also a video of Expo Ernie greeting the kids at the fair...We hadn't noticed it before, but let's just say that after Expo ended, he probably went off in search of his Bert.
Check out the Province article entitled 'Whatever Happened To...' (below) to find out where the Scream Machine and the Monorail eventually wound up.
