So the marketing website is now up for the Hotel Georgia development, which has been dubbed the Residences at Georgia.
As a means of generating some buzz around the project, the developer flew in a bunch of East Coast realtors who are remotely connected to celebrity clients, thus permitting them to spread the rumour that J Lo (among others) might be parking her lovely booty in the new 48-storey tower.
While we don't doubt that one of her third-tier personal assistants will have to toss out the glossy mailer, what we want to know is why the local media decided to run with this obvious public relations ploy.
Clearly, the developer is trying to pawn off units in this sub-prime location (too far from the water) at premium prices.
Anyway, despite our crankiness, we're actually excited about the new building, which will occupy a prominent place in the Vancouver skyline.
Let's just hope that they improved the finish on the roof, as the Urban Design Panel told them to.
One other note - the W Hotel chain will not be managing this property, as rumoured. Instead, it'll be run by the Valencia Group.
